Scrap Pages 16 and 17

Good morning! Just stopping by to post a couple more layouts that I did. These are pretty simple, nothing fancy. The layout of Michael and I is another one from our honeymoon album that I did. The other layout is of myself and some friends at the Henry Ford Museum, where we decided to play school with one of the exhibits. I'm hoping to get down in the ole' scrap room again today, so pehaps I will post more later.
Thanks for looking! Hope everyone is able to stay out of this heat!!

close-ups of my layout

Scrap Page 15

Hello out there! If there's anyone out there who looks at this blog, then welcome!! Its been a while since my last post. Summer is almost coming to an end for me since I go back to work the week of August 8th! UGH! I guess thats what I get for teaching in the state of Indiana. Anyhooo..just thought I'd stop by and share some layouts that are long over due. I've been down in my scrap room today for the first time in a while and I'm cranking out the pages. I haven't had much time or energy to get a lot done considering that the summer is flying by and I seem to be focused on more exciting things, like getting stuff ready for the baby's room!! We have a color and theme picked out, so its just a matter of getting everything put together!!

This layout is an old one that I did a while ago of my hubby and I on our honeymoon in Jamaica! The other pics I will post are close ups that show more detail on the page. Enjoy!! Hope to be back later!

Scrap Pages 12, 13, and 14-Family and Friends

Happy Sunday Everyone!

I have a few more pages to share with you. These layouts were completed just the other day. There are two views of the same layout in orange. It is of some friends and I while we were on a trip in Windsor Canada. The words on the layout say, "If friends were flowers, I'd pick you." I saw this layout in the Scrapbooks Etc. Magazine and thought I'd try my own version of it. I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. The other layout is from my family album, which is still a work in progress. There are a couple pics from my brother's Eagle Scout ceremony, which was a few years ago when he was 18.

On a side note, I am happy to announce that a few layouts ago, I reached my 50th layout that I completed for my scrap challenge. I am a tad bit behind on my challenge though, (I should have 65 layouts done but I only have 58 done so far.) but I'm getting there! This scrap challenge has been so much fun. I really enjoy reliving memories from past moments, family functions, trips with friends or holidays, etc etc. Plus, a friend of mine has recently become as obsessed with scrapbook as I am, so we scrap together and bounce ideas off one another. Its awesome. Recently we took a couple trips to some local scrap shops and bought all kinds of new stuff to use. Now if only I could get good enough to scrap for a living...oh well, a girl can dream. Well, I suppose I should do something a bit more productive today, like laundry.
Until then, leave a comment if you like what you see, or if you even if you don't like what you see you can leave a comment, just be nice about it. ;)

Scrap Pages 10 &11-Old Family Photos

Hello everyone! How's the cold weather and snow treating you? Hopefully you haven't gone too crazy yet! Spring is on the way...right? Right? Eh, nevermind. It's too cold.
So I have two more layouts to share. I am still working on my family album, trying to get some old pictures scrapped. I worked on a couple old pictures of me and my great aunt B.J. (Betty Jane.) The old pictures that I found were somewhat blurry, so taking a picture of the layout didn't work out so well but you can kinda see lil' ole' me and my great aunt. She passed away about 7 years ago but I really feel she would have loved scrapbooking. It would have been something she would have enjoyed.

The other layout is of my great aunt (same one as above) and my grandma Marge, or as we like to call her, Grandma Grandma. I found the black and white photo of them in a pile of my own pics. There's no date on the back so I'm not sure when it was taken. If I had to guess, I'd say that they are probably in their late 20's to early 30's in the pic. Next time I see grandma, I'll have to ask. I think this layout is so pretty. I love the color scheme and the black and white photo of my aunt and grandma is just gorgeous!

Well, that's all for now. More layouts to share soon. Stay warm out there.
Until then,
M.

Scrap Page #9-Me and the folks!

Hmmmm. Apparently I need to stop using my cell phone to take pictures of my layouts cause they don't look so good. Darn! I use my cell because it uploads on here so fast and I dont have to get the camera out, and then the cord, and then turn on the computer etc etc. Oh well. Note to self; the cell doesn't take good pics. :(

This layout I did last night while Michael was working late. I bought some of the materials from a kit at Scrapbook.com. Gotta give them a shout-out every once in a while. This picture is of myself and my parents at my friend Chrissie's wedding, which was back in September of 2008, I believe. I love this picture because we are having such a good time and it really shows on our faces. I am trying to work my way through some old family photos so that I can create a family album/scrapbook. Some of the pictures are becoming faded and yellow from sitting inside those old photo albums where the sheets had sticky backs to them. Turns out, that stuff fades your pictures! Not cool. So to go along with my scrap project, I am trying to save some old memories before they turn yellow and fade away.

Scrap Page #8-Carving Our White Pumpkins

So I said I'd been jumping around a bit with the pictures I've been working on, but considering that Halloween is a while from now, this is really a stretch! Plus, I'd much rather look forward to warmer weather than Halloween. Sorry, but its true. This layout is from a picture I took a few years ago. Michael and I saw a magazine cover that had white pumpkins on it and we thought it looked awesome. Once I read the article, I found out that the pumpkins were actually more of an art project than a freak of nature. (Duh.) The pumpkins had been painted white and then carved so that the orange inside would kinda glow when the pumpkin had a candle inside. So we busted out the white paint, waited for them to dry, then carved the pumpkins. The end result was really cool! But, like I said earlier, this picture was from a couple years ago. This last Halloween, we decided carving pumpkins was too time consuming so we didn't do it. haha! At least I have this layout done!

Scrap Page #7-My Bachelorette Party

Good Evening!

Time to post some more layouts for my scrap project. I worked on a few random things this week. I scrapped a page from my bachelorette party because I am trying to finish that album but I also worked on some pics from one of our Halloween parties and some old pics that will be going in the "family and friends" album. This scrap project is tough! I think I'm doing well and today I realized that I have only completed 31 layouts so far. I know I've only posted a few on here, but I've only completed 31, which means I have a lot of catching up to do. It is tough though because I feel like I've accomplished something and I look at the clock and an entire hour has gone by and I've only gotten one layout done! Grr...oh well.

So this picture is from my fantastic bachelorette party which was held in Chicago. My sister, some of my bridesmaids, and friends joined me for an awesome night out on the town. I'm sure I will post more pics from that night (the appropriate ones of course!)

Scrap Page #6-More 4th of July

And last but not least, for today anyway, more 4th of July pics. But this time, we have my husband being crazy and our friend Jordan's little girl, Hayden, seems to think that Michael is funny. :)

Scrap Page #5-The 4th of July!

I have to thank the Blizzard of 2011 for a chance to get some scrapping done! I must say that I was very surprised to finally have a snow day! The school I teach at doesn't "believe in snow days" so we go to school when the rest of the country is burried under mountains of snow. But anyway, I took full advantage of my snow days (and the couple of 2 hour delays that we had)and went through some photos to decide which ones I wanted to scrap next. I did this layout for my friend Jordan. Her daughter Hayden turned 3 the other day and we had her birthday party yesterday. I made this layout so that Jordan could put it in Hayden's baby book. Working on layouts of the 4th has made it difficult to face the snow and cold weather!!

-Okay, got one more layout to post on here and its another 4th of July page. Hopefully it doesn't send anyone into fits of depression considering the fact that its NOT July and February still means cold weather! :(

Scrap Page #4-Sailing in Rhode Island

Hello Out There!

I have a couple more pages that I completed for my scrap challenge. This one was done for my Boston/Rhode Island scrapbook that I made. I am finally done with that entire book! Quite proud of myself, I must say! The people in the picture are my friends Jenny and Amanda and myself. We took sailing lessons while in Rhode Island. It was amazing! Then of course, like good tourists, we stopped somewhere cute for lunch. :)

Scrap Page # 3-Toby lovin' the snow!

Hello again! It took me a full day but I finally got this picture to upload! It's another scrap page that I did of Toby from last winter when he found a red leaf in the yard, burried under the snow. That dog loves leaves!

Hope everyone has a great Friday and a wonderful weekend! Stay warm and out of the snow, if you can!

Scrap page #2 The Boston trip

Hello out there!

I hope everyone is doing well on this Thursday night. If you are experiencing snow like most of the country right now, I hope you are staying warm and you're not getting too much snow! I think its done snowing right now, but then again, it's Michigan!

So I'm uploading another scrap page that I worked on recently for my scrap project. I have been spending a lot of time working on an album of pictures from a trip to Boston that I took with my friends Amanda and Jenny. We went on this trip waaaaayyyy back in 2005 and I am just now scrapping the pictures. This particular page goes along with our first day in Boston. We walked around and found the Cheers Restaurant and had lunch. It was delicious! We had a blast on this trip, so expect more photos from this trip soon! It seems as if this picture is a little blurry, so I apologize for that. Not sure why its blurry!?

I'm also in the process of uploading another page that I did of Toby (our lab) but it won't upload!! Grrr! So that might have to be blogged another day because my patience is running low. I don't know why a simple picture won't upload! Oh well.

Until then,
M.

Chicago bears mini cupcakes!

I finally got to use my mini cupcake maker!!! I made mini lemon cupcakes with lemon cream frosting. They are actually much oranger in real life than in this picture. I call them my "Chicago Bears Mini Cupcakes" hoping that they could lead Chicago to the Superbowl, but alas, looks like that won't be happening this year. :(

Scrap Page #1-My Toby

Here's the first page I've done for my scrap challenge. Its just a quick layout that I did of Toby.

A Day In The Life of a Scrapbook

Hello there!

Another year has come and gone and now its 2011! Its been a while since I updated this thing, but I have high hopes that I will be updating quite frequently now. About a month ago, while on Christmas vacation, I rented the movie "Jule and Julia." Anyone seen that movie? I loved it because it gave me an idea of something that I would like to do and it has motivated me in a way that I didn't think it would. Watching the "Julie" character as she goes through Julia Child's cookbook made me think of doing a scrap page every day for a year.I guess I found myself connecting to her character and her need to do something challenging while learning about who she is at the same time. Then reality hit and I realized that while it would be an awesome idea, it wasn't very practical. I'm glad that Julie had the chance to work 8 plus hours a day at a crappy job and then come home to a tiny apartment and cook amazing meals that her ever-so-supportive husband would consume with a smile on his face. In reality, there's no way that I would be able to work 8 plus hours teaching 16 year olds and then come home and work on a scrapbook page all while cooking dinner and making lesson plans. Yeah. Not gonna happen. At least not every day for a year.

But what I did realize is that I could make 365 new and different scrapbook pages in the year 2011. They don't have to be done every day. I could work on a couple in one day and then do some more when I have time. Yay! Brilliant idea. Plus, I will start moving through those pictures that I desperately need to scrap AND I will be using more of my scrap supplies, which means I will have a need to buy more! :) It's a Win-Win Situation!

So, today is Thursday, January 20th. I have completed 14 scrap pages as of today. I will be uploading them on here so that you can see what I have done as I make them and go through my "scrapping journey." So I have 14 down and 351 more to go! Wow.
And if there's anyone out there who might be reading this, leave a message or let me know what you think. If you're a scrapper and like/don't like what you see; let me know as well.

Until then, here's the first page I created for my scrap challenge 2011. See you next week!
