My BIG Christmas Project!

For Christmas, I decided to make my family members a Christmas card box. I saw the idea on the Cricut website and thought it looked really neat. The boxes that I made looked nothing like the one on the Cricut site, but the idea came from there.

I made the boxes because my mother, mother-in-law, and my grandmothers keep the cards that they received for the holidays. (So, if you've sent my mom a Christmas card, she might still have it.)

Making these boxes TOOK FOREVER! I painted them and made each one unique by adding different scrapbook paper, stickers, ribbon or glitter.

Here are examples of 2 of them. I will upload the others soon! The white one was given to my Grandma Faye and the pink one was given to my mom.

Oh....Grandpa...

Recently my family decided to start a new Christmas tradition. With the economy being what it is, we all agreed that it was silly to spend tons of money on each other. So we agreed to place our names in a hat and exchange gifts through the "Secret Santa" method. Well, the first year we did this, we all knew that whoever drew Grandpa Jack's name, would have an interesting time. Our dear grandfather made a list of ridiculous gifts just so he could get a response out of all of us. But, little did he know....he was in for a surprise himself. On his list, grandpa asked for hunting lessons from Sarah Palin. (Good grief...) So my mom and my brother worked together to create him a Sarah Palin Christmas! In the pictures, you can see that he really enjoyed his surprise. For Christmas that year, he received a fur hat covered in moose antlers and a photograph of Sarah with her "signature" at the bottom.
This year, he asked for private singing lessons from Susan Boyle, but my husband was not as creative...so he just bought grandpa a new coat! :)
The bottom line is; sometimes you have to be careful what you wish for!

A Winter Scrapping Session

Happy New Year everyone! I hope everyone had a great holiday! I recently spent some time downstairs in my scrap room, (getting scrapbook supplies for Christmas definitely helped!) and instead of scrapping recent pictures from this Christmas, I chose to scrap some photos from winter of '08-09. The layout that I have uploaded is of a small trip that Michael and I made to Chicago to see some friends. We had a great time. Michael and I both love Chicago in the winter, especially when the lights are on the trees and everything looks so festive.

With that said, I have a mission for myself. I am going to try and post some of the layouts that I have recently worked on. They range from family to friends, but they are all from '08-09. For some reason, I am in a nostalgic mood and I figured that scrapping some old photos will be good for me. Make sure you check back tomorrow....I have a Christmas layout of my grandpa Jack. It's hilarious!
